Let's work together
I love to eat.
No, not just sit in one place and gobble till I pop.
I love to really eat.
I am fascinated by food stories. As a sociologist, my primary focus has been on culinary anthropology. My travels have taken me into kitches around the world. I have gone from learning how to crucify (quite literally) a lamb for an Argentine Asado to making ricotta cheese with somebody else's Nonna in Umbria. I even had to get stitches once (without anesthesia) in Ecuador after burning a pot of rice (long story). I have met cacao farmers in Latin America. Heard the plight of fishermen in Ecuador. Prepared a Maori Hangi in New Zealand. Stomped on grapes and made my own wine in the Piedmont of Italy.
I have worked with great chefs.
I have worked with manic chefs.
I own my own food business.
I have been inspired by people passionate about food, around the world.
And the best part of these food memories?
...that's the part where you get to enjoy a meal together, along the road less traveled.
And this what I mean by loving to eat: mindful eating. Conscious consumption.
The details? Well I am from everywhere and no where in particular. I have learnt to accept this as both my nemesis and my saving grace. My work as a freelance photographer and writer are a reflection of my curiosity for the world. My camera is a tool to document the journey.
